A Walk in Brooklyn

Walking around Brooklyn is always a visual adventure. I often come upon sights that stop me in my tracks. Crumbling walls, street art, trees, colors, light; all are full of beauty to me. Luckily, most of the time I have my phone, (with camera,) in my pocket, ready to record those special moments.
I recently downloaded some of my pictures.

Thank you for walking with me.

Waldorf Workshops

For the last two years myself and a couple of other parents have been organizing craft workshops for the parents at our Brooklyn Waldorf School. Every Wednesday from 9am until noon we get together to learn a Waldorf type craft. The workshops are free and open to the public, our creations are sold at the school store to raise funds for the school.
For Valentines day we created felt heart necklaces with roving wool and wool felt that we plant dyed ourselves under the guidance of Sono Kuwayama.

Among other workshops we have done are: Making Wood Buttons, Wool Fairies, Circular Knitting, Plant Dying,  Needle Felted Animals, and many more.

Starting this summer in Brooklyn, an abandoned lot on the corner of Bergen and 4th Street will be transformed as part of the 596 Acres project. The Sewing Seeds CSA garden will run for a 6 month season between June and November 2012, providing members with plants to be used as natural dyes, as well as recipes and workshops utilizing them.

Gingerbread house

My daughter and I made a gingerbread house a couple of days ago.

We use lemon juice and powdered sugar as glue.

We didn't have enough dough, so we had to use Graham crackers for one side of the roof.

She had the idea for a pond with a frog in it.

 It took so much candy.

And, we had to run back to the candy store 3 times for more candy... She didn't mind.

She asked if she could choose one candy a day to eat.
Happy Holidays

Winter Fair Pictures

The Winter Fair at the Brooklyn Waldorf School was more fabulous than ever!
There were so many amazingly beautiful and fun activities to do. One of the many highlights was the Enchanted Forest. I was running around the whole day and only found time to snap a few quick pictures with my phone, of the school craft booth.
